Understand before a quality opportunity to make money online is offered, the originators of the program have spent a lot of money developing it, testing it and tweaking it until they believe it is as reliable as possible. Attempting to offer similar advertising, sales and marketing that does not match the existing program is like trying to reinvent the wheel. Consider the program for making money online to be like a franchise of a business you are buying to operate your own restaurant. You probably would not last long selling soy burgers at a hamburger stand known for the quality of its beef.

3 Ways to Succeed Making Money Online

As of today I am one of the Top 50 contestants in the running to be on the first ever web reality show called “Next Internet Millionaire.”

There is A LOT of information out there about making money and succeeding online. Everyone is on information overload. It’s tiresome and frustrating.

I’ve come to find out there are 3 basic principles you must follow to
succeed in your business online:

1. Find a Hungry Niche Market BEFORE You Start Selling

This is key. Most people will spend countless hours and a good portion of their whole life pouring their passion, time and energy into creating a product or service they just know people are going to LOVE.

They think they have THE “hot” product everyone is going to buy which will make themselves a fortune online. Maybe it’s because they themselves love it so it MUST be a good idea. Or maybe their friends tell them it’s going to make them millions.

This same person doesn’t test anything. Ultimately they are going into the dark promoting something they never even figured out if there was a market for. What ends up happening? They never make any money. And passion turns to frustration, anger and a bunch of lost time and money.

You MUST test to see if there is a market BEFORE you try to sell anything.

The best way to do this is through a probe campaign.

Throw up a one page site that asks visitors to answer the question:
”What is the number ONE thing you want to know about ________?”

Fill in the blank according to the nature of your product you want to develop. Let people tell you what they want. In turn, you will take the most common answer to figure out how to develop your product by tailoring it according to the needs of the people.

Once you are finished creating your product you will have something that you know is in demand that people want to buy because they have told you so. You now have a hungry market ready and willing to buy what you will offer.

2. Solve a Problem – Quickly

The “Information Age” is about speed. People have problems. If you don’t have one, I’m sure I can find a handful of people that can spare you a few problems of their own.

The fact is, most people do NOT go online to buy. They go online looking for information or to solve a problem.

What you need to do is find an untapped niche market. This is a group of people who are going online to solve a problem, but finding it hard to find a solution.

Most people want instant gratification to solve their problems instantly. Through the power of the Internet and instant digital products you can easily sell people solutions to problems quickly.

Keep in mind people want: speed and convenience.

If you can relieve someone else’s problem, headache or worries by giving them the solution they are looking for in a quick and convenient way, you’ve got it made.

3. Hypnotic Copywriting to Convert Sales

Once you’ve found a hungry niche market and come up with a product that will satisfy the wants of people and you do so quickly the next thing you’ll want to focus on is COPYWRITING.

Now, anyone can write.

But are you able to write catchy headlines? Can you entice people to want to buy YOUR product? Are you able to literally hypnotize someone stopping them in their tracks when they read the copy on YOUR website?

People’s attentions spans are about the lifespan of a gnat these days.

You MUST dig into the emotion of your visitor. People buy on emotion then justify with logic. So make sure you get emotional. Pretend you are reading your sales copy. Why would make YOU drawn in wanting to read more?

I find writing a story is compelling. Get personal. Write from your heart. Write as if you are writing to your best friend. People want to know you are a real life human being across that computer screen.

The most important element of the copy above ANYTHING is your HEADLINE.

If you are a good copywriter you will test your headline numerous times until you get it right and it starts converting into sales for you.

Focus on your headline and your benefits. People want to know what’s in it for them. So TELL THEM. List out all the reasons why your product is going to change their lives for the better. Tell them why their internal state will be changed forever.

There is no secret (despite what the “Gurus” tell you) to making money online.


First and foremost let’s begin with an understanding that there are only 3 ways that you can generate income in an online business. Each one of these has its place and purpose in you developing a successful (read profitable) online business venture.


Each one of these can stand on its own in creating income, but they are best understood as a progression in developing a steady flow of cash to your business.


Let’s walk through each one so you have a better understanding of what they are and how they can work specifically for you.


Sell Traffic

Selling traffic is the process of driving visitors to your website and getting them to click on an ad (Google Adsense as an example) and/or by directing that traffic to an affiliate website as a lead that you get paid for (an example of this would be getting prospects to a mortgage loan site where they fill out an application).


You will normally find these types of ads on blogs, but you can also find them on some websites and social networking sites like Squidoo.


The way you make money with Adsense is quite simple. People come to your blog or website and click on one of these ads. You are then paid anywhere from 10 cents to 40 cents (or more) per click.


So looking at the example above in the Adsense unit, if you had 300 visitors to your website a day and 4% of them clicked on one of the ads above you would receive anywhere from $1.20 to $4.80.


Does it look like you are going to get rich this way?


Not likely.


But, if you had 50 sites (or blogs) that did this every day you would be earning anywhere from $60 to $240 a day. Not bad for a relatively passive income stream.


Sell Other Peoples Products

The other way you can make money online is by selling other peoples products which is better known as affiliate marketing. By being an affiliate marketer has several advantages.


1. You don’t have to have a website right away.


2. You don’t have to come up with ads or promotional material, most good affiliate programs supply that for you.


3. You can start generating income right away.


Now, the downside to affiliate marketing is this:


1. You are sending your prospects to someone else’s website, effectively helping them build THERE list and not yours.


2. You are competing with hundreds if not thousands of other affiliates who are marketing the same product.


3. You are getting half of the income you would be receiving if you were selling your own product.


So, knowing that, is it still a good idea to get your online business started as an affiliate? You bet it is!


Sell Your Own Products

Why is it important to have your own products?


1. You can establish a brand that customers can come to trust.


2. You have products to cross sell.


3. You can build a huge affiliate base.


4. You have a suite of products to make yourself a professional force in the marketplace.


So, what type of products can you develop and sell to your customers. Well, a lot of that will depend on your market and your audience. This is where having a thorough understanding of your customers wants and needs is critical.


Here is a list of the different types of product offerings you should consider (again depending on your market).


1. Digital products; eBooks, CDs, DVDs


2. Services; Membership sites, consulting, coaching


3. Software; Web based, digital for desktop


4. Physical; Health and Wellness, tools, gizmos, etc.


With all of these you have many choices when it comes to creating the product. You don’t have to manufacture these products in many cases. You can find companies that will allow you to private label an already existing product, you can also get PLR (private label rights) products that give you the right to put your name on them to “brand” the product as your own as well.


The other HUGE benefit of having your own products is the fact that you can keep more of the revenue since you now own it. That can make a big difference to your long term income possibilities as you grow your online business.


The bottom-line is this; you want to have an online business strategy that includes eventually selling your own products. This is a must if you truly want to develop a long term stable income for your business.
