When you have little money to invest in marketing your product and/or service, there are some free ways to do it. Time-investment in free advertising is huge, the money-investment is low. The more you want to leverage yourself, the more you have to invest in software and tools.

Programs offering you a way to make money online with no investment seem to be gaining in popularity. This is likely a result of the economy. As I said last time, I find this unrealistic. There’s still good news though. You can develop a successful business with far less money than you might imagine.

Based on my experience — that is, what I’ve done — you need 4 things to start a successful internet business. Your total start up cost will be about $150. This list assumes that you’re using the easiest beginner’s method of becoming a Clickbank affiliate to start your internet marketing business.

The four things you’ll need to start you on the path to internet marketing success are a domain name, a landing page, a hosting account, and an autoresponder. Today, let’s talk about why you need these things. Then next time we’ll look at what each thing does for you.

Obviously, you can do affiliate marketing without any of these tools. You can simply drive traffic to your product’s sales page using your affiliate link. But this does nothing to build your internet marketing business. Using this method, you are constantly in search of new customers. And, you have no relationship with any of your customers. They are all one-time buyers.

Your goal for your online business should be to build a list of lifetime customers. The best way to do this is to develop a relationship of trust with your customers. You can only do this if you know who your customers are and they know who you are.

As you can see, none of these four tools have anything to do with traffic generation. I did say last time that one of the biggest reasons it is near impossible to make money online with no investment is that it takes lots of time and lots of effort to generate traffic using the free methods.

But, both your time and effort are dramatically reduced if you use the free traffic methods and build your list at the same time, as these four tools allow you to do. No longer are you constantly searching for the new customer to make a one-time sale to.

Instead, once your traffic generation pays off, and you have a customer, she is no longer just a one- time buyer. You have her name and email. You have her request to send her information. You know she’s interested in what you’re offering — she opted-in to your list.

Making additional sales to an established customer is a walk in the park compared to the effort it takes to acquire a new customer. Once you have a list, the money comes in faster and with less effort. Because of this, I recommend that you spend your money in the beginning building a list, not on paid traffic generation methods. Your list building tools are far less expensive. They are easier to use. When you start making some money you can direct your attention to the paid traffic methods. If you want to. If you need to.

But first let’s just concentrate on getting one customer, showing that customer she can trust you, and marketing quality products to her. It will be so much easier to sell ten products to this one customer than it will be to sell one product to ten customers. You’ll be amazed.

Passion is like a high-powered furnace that exists deep inside of you. It just needs to be fired up. So how do you fire up your passion? Easy. Do things that you’re passionate about – things that you truly enjoy doing. Why? Because passion is a key component to success. It motivates you. It keeps you focused. It makes you determined to keep going against even the most astronomical of odds. It helps you find solutions to your problems.

It’s been my experience that people who are truly passionate about whatever it is that they’re involved with have a level of determination, discipline and commitment that most people simply don’t have. It has been said that “the greater someone’s passion, the greater their level of success.” I believe that to be absolutely true. If you’re not passionate about what you’re doing, you’re merely spinning your wheels!

4. You have to believe in what you’re doing. There’s an old saying that states: “faith can move mountains.” And while that may not necessarily be true in a literal sense, belief in yourself, your ability and what you’re trying to accomplish can indeed be powerful. Let me give you an example of what I’m talking about. This past summer Tiger Woods won his third U.S. Open championship and 14th major title.

It was an unlikely victory for Woods, who was physically handicapped because he played the entire tournament with a broken leg. Two days after winning the championship, Woods revealed that he would miss the remainder of the 2008 season because he was having major surgery on his leg. When asked by reporters why he jeopardized his career by playing with such a serious injury, Woods simply replied, “I wanted to win.” Now if that’s not having faith in your ability to get the job done, I don’t know what is. Bottom line: To make money online, you have to believe in what you’re doing!

5. You must follow-up with prospects. Did you know that the average e-commerce website has a conversion ratio of around 1 percent? That means 99 percent of visitors to your website will leave without purchasing anything. That’s why following up with your prospects is so important. If you’re serious about making money online, you absolutely, positively must collect your visitors names and e-mail addresses so that you can follow-up with them at a later date.

n the last part I covered how to generate income through writing blogs and creating your own website. In this article I will be discussing affiliate marketing and how this can be used to make money online.

Affiliate Marketing is when you promote other people’s products (or services) for a percentage of the sale. As an affiliate marketer, you usually do not require any special training and best of all do not need start up capital.

A great advantage of affiliate marketing is that you do not have to be concerned with developing products and creating ideas, which allows you to concentrate on marketing the product/service.
