Making Money Online – Is this reality or just plain fiction?

I am sure that I am not alone in wanting a better life, more money and more time to do the things that I enjoy. The news is full of gloomy stories of “recession”, “credit crunch”, “petrol prices”, “inflation”, making us feel helpless. I decided that I would ignore all of the hype and start to research alternative ways of earning some extra cash and to then use this extra income to pay off my debt.

I would like to firstly admit that I do have an IT degree and so can be considered an “IT Specialist”. So my natural instinct was to use my skills on the Internet and research possible online money making schemes. I was completely new to this and did not know what I was looking for; I started with basic search criteria such as “work from home”, “online jobs” etc. I was amazed by all the websites offering to make me rich by the morning! I have to admit I really believed most of them too.

However, I am one of those lucky ones that have made many wrong business decisions in the past and am a lot more cautious now than in my younger days. So I carried on researching, I even got convinced to join a live conference call. I sat through it for about 30 minutes and listened to people introduce themselves and someone then started the sales pitch. I was given a day to think about it before someone got in touch with me to ask if I had decided to join them or not. I had already made up my mind that $2,000 was not the kind of money I was willing to gamble with and I declined. This was a MLM (Multi-Level-Marketing System); these systems are often indistinguishable from “pyramid schemes” in which commissions are paid to each seller based on the number of additional sellers that they can recruit. Now that might seem like a reasonable way to earn money for some, but the ones that really make a profit from this are the ones at the top of the pyramid. This is a competitive market and not always trustworthy, so if you do consider this a viable option, then really do your homework first. Personally I don’t see why I have to pay to work for someone else! Also to be successful in this area you have to be a good salesperson and to be frank somewhat dishonest. These people never tell the whole truth to their potential “customer” and their sales pitch is full of empty promises. I am sorry if I offend anyone but even if I want to get rich it doesn’t mean I have to make others poor; this is what most of these systems rely on!

Continuing with my research I discovered many sites promoting online surveys as an easy option to earn money online. You sign up to sites that conduct research for companies and you get paid for completing online questionnaires. These questionnaires can take up to 15 minutes to complete and then your account is credited. You can earn up to £200 per month filling out online surveys or giving your review of a product/service. The advantage of this method is that you don’t have to payout any of your hard earned cash and you don’t have to set up anything before hand. Obviously however, you can see that it won’t make you rich but it can help fill some gaps in your finances. Another advantage is that you can do it at home, anytime of the day and it does not require any real effort.

Some other online money making ideas are: (none will make you rich but all require no initial investment):

·         Online betting – be very careful here; if you are already in debt you really cannot afford to gamble with what you don’t have. Gambling is exactly what it says, it’s Gambling!

·         Mystery Shopper – You sign up on a website and then are given shops or restaurants to visit; after your visit you are asked to give your opinion of the experience.

Remember if you do sign up that you will be targeted with products to buy, but try not to be tempted by these offers, they are there to ensure that instead of collecting the cash you give the money back to them!

After a month of searching the internet, I am sad to say that I have come to the conclusion that there are more people out there ready to “scam” you than real opportunities. I guess at my age I should not be surprised by this however I am still disappointed that so many people have no morals or empathy for others.

But my search has given me an insight into how the Internet is Making Money for those who know, without having to “scam” others. I am realistic and honest, there are no quick fixes but there are some real online money making methods. They take time and effort to establish but so does any business. Once you have set up your first online business the rest are easy.

I recently asked my friend, Mark, himself a self-made internet millionaire and affiliate marketing master (you may very well have heard of him–seen “Affilorama” or any affiliate guru interviews?), how I could start making money online.  There are loads of places to go, of course, but where is the best place to start?

I have to admit that I wasn’t expecting his “first step” to have to do with blogging, but that’s what he told me, and let me tell you, he’s right.  If you’re into blogging, want to work from home, and use or plan to use WordPress to make money, then listen up.

Well, he’s been number 1, sometimes number 2 or number 3 for the keyword phrase “make money online”.  No small feat, huh?

Not only that, I’m told he manages four figure monthly income because of his top Google blog.

Also pretty impressive!

What impresses me personally the most is how he exactly made all this money and success.  It wasn’t by traditional affiliate marketing means, per se, but by creating his own, well-optimized WordPress blog theme. Not what you’d normally expect, but definitely a money-maker all the same.  His site covers how to make money from blog ads, widgets, retaining visitors, attractive widgets, and more.

Of course, the guy does know the basics of high search rankings, otherwise he would never have done so well for himself.  Aside from the blog theme, he shares some of his secrets in on-page SEO and ad placements optimization.

So does the Ultimate Blogging Theme service work?  Well, if you’re not quite an expert and either a complete newbie or somewhat experienced, then I definitely recommend this–especially if you can’t be bothered with all the nitty-gritty programming!  You’ll save time with all that stuff, won’t waste time with mistakes, and get right to business.  And as we all know, time really is money.

Even if you are advanced, hey, it doesn’t hurt to learn some more.  This kid didn’t get to #1 by accident, I can certainly testify to that.

But hey, see for yourself.  I think it is actually worth the money because of how quickly the site gets you into the game, particularly in an online money maker you may not have originally considered.  And hey, he’s got an affiliate program himself.  You can make some money advertising this guy and using his success to your advantage in MORE than one way.

So it’s win-win, all around, and making money online really just got easier.

Making money online requires preparation, due diligence and unique knowledge. It is not difficult but if you want to really make money be sure to get the proper training and focus on thos things you are most passionate about.

There are people on the net who’d have you believe that to be successful on the internet requires nothing more than the belief that you can “just do it”. Unfortunately they usually have something to sell you.

Folks, believe me, there are good affiliate programs, internet training and opportunities on the internet but there are also a lot of scams, snake oil and rehashed, outdated and ineffective ones as well.

Like anything worthwhile in life success requires 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration.

Making money on the internet seriously is a walk in the park compared to working in the real world and the money you will make is phenomenal compared to working for someone else.

Success doesn’t require a lot of time. In fact many successful internet marketers make huge amounts of money online and only work 3-4 hours a day from anywhere in the world – and you can too. But, you will first need to learn the ropes. It’s not difficult. A mentor who has been there and done that will shorten your learning curve and have you making money within 30 days NOT 30 months.

“What comes first the chicken or the egg”? Don’t know – don’t care! Is it better to be able to market anything online or to market things you are passionate about? Don’t know – don’t care!

When it comes to making money online – when you have Passion for the idea, company, product or service, of any Internet business from which you expect to make money the more passion you have for it the more likely you will be to WANT to spend your time doing it and the longer you will devote to it.

Passion simply put means you have done your due diligence and you like what you’re getting into. It is then that you translate that Passion into the education, excitement and the drive that usually accompany Passion.

What are your hobbies? What are your previous skills and talents? What do others tell you that you are a natural at? These are the things you will promote the best and have the most fun researching.

Now, I’m not trying to make anyone believe that Passion is the only thing necessary. Because to be successful you must also have a good website, good marketing, widespread advertising, company support, effective keywords… but sidestep Passion and you reduce your chances for success dramatically.

It therefore follows that, if you have no Passion for the company and the products and services provided by that company, again, you won’t attempt to do the work you are being taught.

Internet marketing work is typically not all that difficult or time consuming but it does take motivation caused by Passion to get you off and running with a sustained effort so that you won’t stumble.

You have a great resource in the Internet search engines to search about the Internet Marketing industry for business opportunities, USE IT!

Your research should uncover a company that you like and have confidence in. It should be solid, founded on great principles, and easy to understand with great products and services that are sell-able for which you can have Passion. If you don’t find it move on. You can find the right opportunity containing the attributes identified above.

Note: If your goal is to sell anything and everything online. That end skill and goal is a worthy one indeed. I’m just saying the best place to start is to start with things you are most passionate about.

First learn how to market on the internet. Learn from experienced internet marketers that you know are successful. Do what they are doing. Choose the right company products and services to be passionate about.

Avoid people that want to sell you big promises if they can’t prove it! Demand proof. If you’ve been in business more than 30 days and are not making money at then change what you’re doing or how you’re doing it. If you’re not having fun and learning change what you’re doing.

You will never have to work another day when you do what you love. And, believe me the money will be rolling in within days not months.

One critical element to your success which doesn’t involve traffic is taking note of what works on you. Let me explain when you see an advertisement what makes you click that one over another one. Even when you receive an email what make you delete some and click on others. All these things need to be noted down so you can use what works and stop using what doesn’t work this is very critical to your success.

Finally one other issue that needs to be addressed, when getting links try to get one way links pointing in to your site this will help you rank high in google. To rank high in yahoo it doesn’t matter you can have reciprocal links or one way. This may change soon as google is planning to rank based on the one way links relevance to the content in your site, this may take a while for them to put this system in place. This means that your requests by emailing the sites will be more crucial in promoting your website than the other means.
